Social Impact

ROND Amsterdam was founded by three University of Amsterdam students who shared a belief: you don’t need new materials to create something beautiful. We saw that high‑quality leather was being wasted in the furniture industry and became determined to upcycle it into timeless corporate gifts while also making a positive social impact.

Our Process

We collect surplus leather from factories and wholesalers across the Netherlands. We design each product and cut the leather ourselves, then collaborate closely with social workspaces. There, skilled tailors sew and craft our products, turning our designs into timeless pieces.

Social Impact

Our products are made in collaboration with Atelier MADE HERE in Amsterdam - a social workspace founded in 2018 by Ytha Kempkes together with Ibrahim Aibash, Najib Khalil, and Maytham Al Saedi. Born from the need to create jobs for skilled tailors with a refugee background who struggled to find work in the Netherlands, Atelier MADE HERE proves that local production can be both sustainable and inclusive. Since 2023, they have partnered with Pantar, offering even more opportunities to makers with a distance to the labor market.

Social Enterprise

In August 2025, ROND Amsterdam partnered with Social Enterprise NL to become certified as a social enterprise. This organization works to promote social entrepreneurship and foster a circular economy that benefits all stakeholders. ROND Amsterdam was a natural fit for this partnership, thanks to the social impact it creates through producing corporate gifts in collaboration with several social workspaces.

SROI

Since becoming certified as a social enterprise, working with ROND also contributes to Social Return on Investment (SROI). By sourcing corporate gifts from us, clients engage in social procurement - buying from a business that creates jobs for people with limited access to the labor market and upcycles surplus materials. For organizations with an SROI obligation, 50% of the invoice value counts toward fulfilling that requirement, as ROND is a proud member of Social Enterprise NL.
