Sustainability
ROND Amsterdam was founded by three University of Amsterdam students who shared a belief: you don’t need new materials to create something beautiful. We saw that high‑quality leather was being wasted in the furniture industry and became determined to upcycle it into timeless corporate gifts.
Sustainability
At ROND, everything starts with a conscious choice: not to make more, but to make better use of what already exists. Every part of our accessories – from the leather to the thread – is either upcycled or recycled. We work with high-quality surplus materials from the Dutch furniture industry or wholesalers. What others see as waste, we see as potential.
Through upcycling, we significantly reduce our environmental footprint while preserving the natural beauty and character of the material. Each item is one of a kind – shaped by the texture, markings, and traces of a previous life. The result is a collection that is sustainable by origin and essence – timeless, responsible, and made to last.
Upcycling of Materials
At ROND, we believe that timeless accessories begin with exceptional materials. That is why we work only with high‑quality leather, hand‑selecting each piece for its beauty and durability. Our leather carries a past, rescued from surplus and given new life through upcycling, so every accessory we create not only lasts for years but also tells a story of craftsmanship and sustainability.
CO₂ Emissions Saved
When working with ROND, organizations make a positive environmental impact. By choosing upcycled leather, you avoid the need to produce new leather for a similar accessory. According to Collective Fashion Justice, each square meter of tanned leather for the fashion industry produces around 110 kg of CO₂. We use this figure for our calculations, as our products fall within the category of fashion goods. Based on this, ROND Amsterdam helps reduce CO₂ emissions by re‑using existing leather instead of relying on newly produced material.
